However, ginseng was not associated with improved physical performance in the meta-analysis of 8 trials (standardized mean difference of -0.01, not significant). The authors conclude that clinical evidence remains insufficient due to the small number of trials and their limited sample sizes, and call for larger studies to confirm the effect on fatigue.
The distinction is important: ginseng may help reduce the sensation of fatigue according to available data, but it has not demonstrated a direct effect on physical performance (strength, power, endurance) in the controlled trials analyzed. It is therefore not strictly a performance supplement, but rather a support for everyday perceived vitality.
